Whitsundays Luxury Yacht Charters
The Whitsunday Passage was named by an earlier explorer, Capt James Cook, when he sailed his ship ‘The Endeavour’ through this beautiful region on Whit Sunday in June 1770.
It is a region regarded as one of the great pleasure sailing grounds in the world. The islands are picture-postcard perfect, many with dense green pine forests rising steeply from granite cliffs affording excellent deep water anchorage.
Secluded beaches with dazzling, chalk-white coral sands beckon invitingly, and the warm, Tiffany blue water - the region’s trademark – is mesmerising.
Aside from glorious diving and snorkelling, whale watching is a special Whitsundays pleasure. Courting, fluking (slapping their massive tails on the water with a resounding ‘crack’) and breaching (the most spectacular element of whale behaviour) are all seen often from the decks of Mustique.

The pristine islands and their fringing reefs support prolific wildlife and guests often encounter turtles, ospreys and white-bellied sea eagles. Exploring is easy, and we have a variety of preferred locations for example Tongue Bay, where you can hike over the point and marvel at Hill Inlet and the entire sweep of famed Whitehaven Beach – a 7km strip of white silica sand and turquoise water.
Nearby, Aboriginal rock art can be seen at Nara Inlet, snorkelling under the granite cliffs of Butterfly Bay and Manta Ray Bay is a highlight, and in ideal conditions Mustique ventures down to the Cumberland Channel to rarely visited Goldsmith and Tinsmith Islands in the Sir James Smith Group.
